Thanksgiving

  • Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. It became an official federal holiday in 1863. As a federal and public holiday in the U.S., Thanksgiving is one of the major holidays of the year.
Based on the existing documentation at hand, we can make the assumption that Elvis did not celebrate Thanksgiving Day on a regular basis during the 23 years he was a professional artist. In sharp contrast to the Christmas Holidays, when Elvis usually stayed at Graceland, he mostly spent Thanksgiving away from his beloved home in Memphis.
Seven of his movies were released nationwide the day before Thanksgiving to benefit from the four-day high school break; Love Me Tender (1956), G.I. Blues (1960), Blue Hawaii (1961), Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962), Fun in Acapulco (1963), Harum Scarum (1965), and Clambake (1967).

The date indicates the Thanksgiving Day (Thursday) of that actual year.

Blues (1960), Blue Hawaii (1961), Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962), Fun in Acapulco (1963), Harum Scarum (1965), og Clambake (1967).

Datoen indikerer selve «Thanksgiving Day» (torsdag) det aktuelle året.
